    • Duncan J. D. Smith was born in Sheffield, England in 1960. He is a self-styled 'Urban Explorer', photohistorian, and travel writer, and has written several books with his father, Trevor, about their home county of Yorkshire. Since 2003 Duncan has been exploring the hidden corners of Europe for his ground breaking "Only in..." series of guidebooks, published by Christian Brandstätter Verlag. Duncan is also a keen gardener, natural historian, collector, and cook.
