- Paul Klee (18791940) unterrichtete neben seiner künstlerischen Tätigkeit über zehn Jahre lang am Bauhaus in Weimar und Dessau, ehe er Professor an der Düsseldorfer Kunstakademie wurde. Dabei entwickelte der Künstler eine eigene bildnerische Form- und Gestaltungslehre, die erstmals in vollem Umfang veröffentlicht wird. Neben einer allgemeinen Einleitung ins Quellenmaterial stellt die Publikation die 24 Kapitel der Lehre vor und zeigt eine Auswahl von Kunstwerken zu den Themen »Natur«, »Bewegung«, »Rhythmus«, »Farbe« und »geometrische Konstruktion«. So werden die sowohl für Klees künstlerisches Schaffen als auch seinen Unterricht zentralen Aspekte sichtbar. Dank eines vierjährigen Forschungsprojekts, das vom Schweizerischen Nationalfonds SNF und von der Paul-Klee-Stiftung der Burgergemeinde Bern unterstützt wurde, konnte das rund 3900 Manuskriptseiten Vorlesungen, Übungen, Skizzen umfassende Unterrichtsmaterial gesichtet, geordnet, faksimiliert und transkribiert werden. Das E-Book beinhaltet einen Zugang zur Online-Datenbank des Forschungsprojekts: Links erlauben es, auf Unterrichtsnotizen von Paul Klee direkt zuzugreifen. Das E-Book verknüpft Text, Bild und Archivdaten, sodass Klees Lehre besonders anschaulich, klar und einfach verstehbar wird. - Besides being an artist, Paul Klee (1879¿1940) taught for more than a decade at the Bauhaus in Weimar and Dessau before taking up a professorship at the Düsseldorf Academy of Fine Arts. He developed his own painterly form and design theory, which is now being published in complete form for the first time. Along with a general introduction to the source material, the publication features the twenty-four chapters of his teachings as well as a selection of artworks on the themes of ¿nature,¿ ¿movement,¿ rhythm,¿ color,¿ and ¿geometric construction.¿ This allows us to see central aspects of Klee¿s artistic work as well as his teachings. Thanks to a four-year research project funded by the Swiss National Foundation (SNF) and the city of Bern¿s Paul Klee Stiftung, the approximately 3,900-page manuscript, containing lectures, exercises, and sketches, has now been viewed, organized, facsimiled, and transcribed. This e-book also allows readers to access the research project¿s online databank at www.kleegestaltungslehre.zpk.org, including direct links to Paul Klee¿s teaching notes.
