Covers McLaughlin's work from the late 50s through to the mid 70s, and goes far beyond the traditional musical biography, offering both a cultural history of London in the 60s and a fascinating insight into the religious cult led by Bengali mystic Sri Chinmoy. Contains an extensive plate section featuring many previously unpublished images of McLaughlin and his peers by period photographers such as Val Wilmer and Jak Kilby. McLaughlin's work with his multi-platinum jazz-rock fusion group The Mahavishnu Orchestra has recently been given the deluxe reissue treatment with the release of The Complete Original Columbia Albums Collection. The author is compiling an album of McLaughlin rarities to be released under the same name, Bathed In Lightning, and to coincide with the book's publication.
