The first edition of the book was published in the United States, and the translation of selected literary anthologies has been revised for some later memories of Sherlock Holmes. All versions included a brief introduction by John H. Watson M.D. Which provided readers with the date of publication, which was in 1917 AD. Although Holmes has long since retired from his investigative career, he is still alive and well.
