    • Revision with unchanged content. In the context of the so-called Sindrion research project, Infineon Technologies AG developed small, low-cost and low-power network nodes. These are equipped with a radio-frequency transceiver unit and come with specific features for ad-hoc networking. By utilizing dedicated software applications that serve as proxies for the embedded device nodes can participate in the Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) network. This book covers the design and implementation of a development environment for the proxy software applications. To achieve this, the development process of Sindrion software components is analyzed from a developer's point of view considering interdependencies of hardware and software components in the domain of distributed embedded devices. Here, the main phases of the process are identified including automated code generation, testing and deployment. As a poof of concept, an initial version of the Sindrion Development Environment has been implemented based on the Eclipse framework.
