  • Zusatztext
    • This book depicts, inter-alia, street childrens life in terms of their family milieu, the course of action to take to street life and their experiences on the street. It also discusses childrens interaction with other people on the street and their perception of self and of others. The people and childrens positive and negative views about each other and diversified aspects of the street life are discussed in this study. The book takes into account the level of childrens vulnerability against powerful criminal gangs, crude everyday realities, denial of basic needs (food, shelter, protection etc) and its impact on the human development. For this purpose, the locality of Pirwadhai was selected which is considered a well-accommodating location for street children than any other place. Pirwadhai Bus Stand and its peripheries are a sanctuary for prostitutes, pimps, sodomites, pedophiles and criminal mafias. Hotels known for illicit activities are an attraction for antisocial elements.
