    • The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of gender mainstreaming initiatives on the performance of female journalists in the media industry in Kenya. The study sought to determine the extent to which gender equality initiative, gender fairness initiative, gender responsiveness initiative and sexual harassment prevention initiative influence performance of female journalists in the media industry in Kenya. It further examined the moderating influence of media policy on the relationship between gender mainstreaming initiatives and performance of female journalists in the media industry in Kenya. The study established that the four initiatives influence the performance of female journalists. It concluded that gender mainstreaming initiatives significantly influence and account for changes in the performance of female journalists with sexual harassment initiative having the highest influence. Findings from the study further suggested that gender mainstreaming initiatives are important for the successful performance of female journalists in the media industry.
